Tuesday Tutorial: Homemade Laundry Detergent

I've been making laundry detergent for awhile now. I've tried a few different 'recipes' and this mix up of ingredients is my favorite! We save a lot of money with this DIY, and I've figured out the right ingredients that help make it go a little more quickly than some of the past methods I've used. If you don't have any of the ingredients, they will cost about $10.00 all together. After that, I usually have some of the amounts left for the next batch, so I don't have to start from scratch each time. So here it goes, I hope you all like it! First, gather your ingredients!

1 14.1 oz bar of pink Zote. You may also use two small bars. I've found Zote at the 99 cent store, and any other dollar store. $1.00
3 c borax $3.00
3 c washing soda $3.00
3 c Purex Crystals $3.50

Step One: Grate the bar(s) of Zote with the big side of the grater.
Step Two: Mix all the ingredients together with your hands in a big bowl, so everything is nicely combined.
Step Three: Put the detergent in your favorite container.
Step Four: Use 2-3 Tablespoons per load.  For our little family of two, this amount lasts for two to three months.
