High on Thrifting Thursdays v.1 or Urban Picking v.1

So, I'm a thrift store junkie. Always have been. It was what my Mom and I did as I was growing up, and we do still when we hang out. It can be a little addicting, and those that are new to the sport may get a little bored with me if we journey into a Salvation Army or flea market. Thankfully(or maybe not so much since all the good stuff is snatched up VERY quickly), I am joined in the bay area by many who love the sport as well. And it is a sport. Sort of. In that there may be scratching and clawing to get to that amazing vintage purse. And fake outs, like sideways glances while hearing the price of an item when someone else asks the seller, and then jumping on it when the buyer walks away. I would also like to call thrifting Urban Picking, because it sounds cool.

So I've recently told of my love of sewing, and getting back into it by making things for babies. See here at my shop! Fabric can be expensive if you buy it new, but I've found some cool places to thrift it that in enables my two 'sports'-- thrifting and sewing.  Of course the number of small shops we have been to on our travels of the bay area including East Bay Depot of Creative Reuse. Love it. The Alameda Flea Market, of course. And the Treasure Island Flea. There are also a lovely bit of thrift shops around the Tahoe area.  Here are some of my fabric findings.  I am always collecting them, so there are some photos of what needs to be ironed and put away as well.
I'm linking up with Harper's Happenings High on Thrifting Thursdays posts today, as well as the blue-eyed owl!
